When Samsung launches another mid-range smartphone, it rarely becomes an event. But the Galaxy A57 5G is a case where the technical specifications deserve closer reading than just the headline.
What and for how much
From April 17, two models are available in Ukrainian retail chains. Samsung Galaxy A57 5G — in three configurations: 8/128 GB for 23,999 UAH, 8/256 GB for 26,999 UAH, and the top-tier 12/512 GB for 34,999 UAH. Samsung Galaxy A37 5G — in two: 6/128 GB for 18,999 UAH and 8/256 GB for 22,999 UAH.
Both models are built on the Exynos 1680 chip, feature 6.7-inch displays with refresh rates up to 120 Hz, a 5,000 mAh battery, and run Android 16 with One UI 8.5. The main camera is 50 MP on both, but the A57 additionally gets an ultra-wide module at 12 MP, while the A37 is limited to 8 MP. Protective glass is Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the A57.
A detail that doesn't make the press release
After disassembly by video channel PBKreviews, the Galaxy A57 received 9 out of 10 points for repairability — a rare result for a smartphone in this price category.
The battery is attached with double-sided tape rather than industrial adhesive. The USB-C module is located separately from the motherboard. Camera lens covers can be removed without full disassembly of the chassis.

For the Ukrainian market, where official service costs have been rising along with the dollar rate over the past two years, this is not a marketing detail. A cracked screen or broken connector on a phone costing 24,000 UAH is a typical situation where repair costs can reach a third of the device's value. The A57 is designed so that this price would be lower.
Market context
Samsung is bringing the A57 and A37 to Ukraine a week after the global sales launch (April 10), which is a fairly short lag for wartime. According to market analysts, the appearance of a flagship mid-range device from a major manufacturer is an indicator that retail networks are restocking inventory, not just maintaining existing supplies.
Direct competition comes from Google's Pixel 9a, which launches in a similar price range and offers a more powerful Tensor G4 chip. However, Pixel is not officially supplied to Ukraine, so for a buyer who values warranty service, the choice is essentially predetermined.

If Samsung maintains such a design in future generations of the A series and simultaneously expands its network of authorized service centers in Ukraine, the argument of "buy cheaper, but spend more on repairs" against mid-range devices would weaken significantly. For now, that depends on the second part of the equation.
