What happened

PrivatBank, in partnership with Visa, has officially launched the "Request for payment" feature in the Privat24 app. The service allows the initiator of a transaction to send requests to others to return part of the money without needing to share card numbers — the bank's press service noted.

How it works

The process is as simple as possible and tailored to everyday scenarios: shared purchases, a restaurant bill, taxi rides or gifts. You need to select a transaction in the Privat24 statement, press "Split payment", add recipients from the phone book and specify the amount for each. The system automatically creates and sends the payment request and can send reminders.

Statements from the bank and partner

"Our new service is created with a focus on the person and on improving the customer experience. Together with Visa we are not only making digital financial services more convenient and transparent, but also systematically lowering barriers to financial interaction between people."

— Dmytro Musiienko, Member of PrivatBank's Management Board for Retail

"For Visa it is important that everyday payments are simple, transparent and convenient for everyone. We highly value our partnership with PrivatBank and will continue to jointly develop digital solutions that make cashless payments in Ukraine even more accessible to millions of users."

— Tetyana Chorna, Vice President and Regional Manager at Visa in Ukraine

Why it matters

Briefly and pragmatically: the feature reduces friction in everyday financial interactions and, at the same time, decreases the need to share sensitive data — a matter of convenience and security. The partnership with Visa provides social proof and strengthens trust: such a tool has a better chance of scaling quickly among users.

Context: another initiative by the bank

Separately, the bank reported a change to the tariff model for individual entrepreneurs: from 1 January 2026 the monthly subscription fee for active individual entrepreneurs (FOPs) is effectively set to zero. This adds practical value for business users, who at the same time receive tools for convenient settlements with counterparties and clients.

Summary

This small but important innovation is an example of how digital services make everyday life simpler and safer. If the tool catches on, it will reduce the amount of informal cash flows and lower risks in personal settlements. The next step is whether other banks and payment networks will accelerate standardization of such services across the country.
