Russian special services have developed a new scheme to deceive Ukrainians by posing as employees of the Security Service of Ukraine. It is important to know how to protect yourself and your loved ones from these provocations.

New Tactics of the Enemy

Recently, there has been an increase in cases where fraudsters present themselves as “SBU employees” and set tasks supposedly “in the interests of the Ukrainian state.” The target audience has expanded to include not only teenagers, as before, but also elderly people.

How the Scheme Works

Fraudsters use the following algorithm:

Step 1: They send a fake “summons” via messengers, demanding that the recipient appear for questioning due to an allegedly opened criminal case.

Step 2: They contact the victim by phone and offer “assistance” in closing the case.

Step 3: They demand the execution of suspicious tasks or the installation of harmful software.

Typical Demands of Fraudsters

The perpetrators may ask for:

  • To follow someone
  • To transfer unknown items
  • To send money to an unknown card “for donations to the Armed Forces of Ukraine”
  • To install suspicious programs on their phone
  • To perform other dubious “tasks”

How to Recognize a Scam

Real SBU employees:

  • Operate strictly within the framework of Ukrainian legislation
  • Never require the installation of third-party software on a phone
  • Do not set dubious “tasks” via messengers
  • Have official documents and procedures

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Summons

Do not panic – this is the most important rule. Do not comply with any demands from unknown individuals. Contact official SBU channels for verification.

Protection for the Whole Family

It is especially important to warn about this scheme:

  • Elderly people – they often become primary targets.
  • Teenagers – who may not understand the seriousness of the situation.
  • Relatives in remote areas – where there is less information about such schemes.

Our Responsibility

At Razom UA, we actively inform communities about various types of fraud and provocations. We conduct educational programs on cybersecurity and organize meetings to clarify such threats.

Together Against Provocations

Awareness is our best defense. Share this information with family, friends, and neighbors. It is especially important to warn elderly people who may be more trusting.

Remember the Main Thing

Real Ukrainian special services work to protect citizens, not to intimidate them. Any suspicious demands or threats are a signal to contact official channels.

Together we can protect our community from enemy provocations and ensure the safety of every Ukrainian.
