Last week in Ukraine, over 106 thousand people fell ill with influenza, COVID-19, and acute respiratory infections. Most cases were recorded among children, however, the epidemic threshold was not exceeded in any region.
According to the Center for Public Health, from November 3 to 9, a total of 106,789 people became ill, including 58,753 – children. 1,412 children and 1,264 adults were hospitalized, and all patients received the necessary medical assistance. The incidence rate remains at a baseline level and has even decreased by 2% compared to the previous week.
Vaccination Available in All Regions
The Ministry of Health reminds that vaccination is the most effective way to protect against COVID-19 and influenza. Vaccinations can be administered free of charge by your family doctor or pediatrician for children. All regions of the country have the necessary number of doses available.
Doctors particularly recommend revaccination for at-risk groups: the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, and healthcare workers.
Recommendations from Specialists
At the first signs of illness – cough, runny nose, sore throat, or fever – one should consult a doctor rather than self-medicate. It is also important to stay at home during illness, use separate dishes, and wash hands thoroughly to avoid spreading the infection.
Information from the Center for Public Health also includes infographics reflecting the incidence of influenza, ARVI, and COVID-19 in Ukraine during the week of November 3-9, including the number of children among the sick and COVID-19 cases.
More details about the epidemiological season, influenza vaccination, and quarantine risks can be read in a blitz interview with Oleksiy Danilenko, Deputy Director General of the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Previously, experts have already advised on how to protect oneself from ARVI, influenza, and COVID-19 by following hygiene rules and timely vaccination.
