Reconstruction of a key thoroughfare leading to the First medical association Unbroken has begun in Lviv. On 25 November, a contract was signed between the municipal enterprise Lvivavtodor and the tender winner Onur Group Ukraine. The city council press service reported this.

Funding and timeline

The reconstruction is being carried out as part of the subproject "Road Safety Improvement Project in Lviv – Package 1", which is financed by the European Investment Bank.

The project foresees reconstruction of Mazepa and Hrinchenko streets with a total length of 2.64 km. The cost of the works is €15.5 million including VAT. More than €9 million is being provided by the EIB, with the city co-financing the remainder.

Works will be carried out in stages, initially outside the carriageway without closing traffic. The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months.

What will change

Within the project, the road surface and engineering networks will be completely replaced. The carriageway will be widened from two to four lanes with a dedicated public transport lane.

Island-platform stops will be installed, bike paths and bike lanes created, new pedestrian crossings and sidewalks, as well as 148 parking spaces.

This is one of the city's key infrastructure projects to improve access to medical facilities on Mykolaychuk Street — the large city hospitals of St. Panteleimon and St. Nicholas and the entire Unbroken rehabilitation system.

Context

In May 2025, the executive committee of the Lviv City Council approved the project to reconstruct Mykolaychuk Street with construction of a tram track. The tram line to the Unbroken rehabilitation center will be the first to be built in Lviv in nearly 10 years.

In July 2024 the French government allocated €5 million for the first phase of the new tram route. In October 2025 Kyivavtodor signed a contract with Onur Construction International for the major overhaul of Miska Street worth over UAH 500 million.
