The Kyiv Court of Appeal on November 20 ruled to reduce the bail for Vyacheslav Boguslaiev to UAH 757 million, equivalent to 250,000 subsistence minimums.

Previous bail amount

Earlier, on October 22, the Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv set bail at UAH 908 million, or 300,000 subsistence minimums. The new appellate decision lowered the sum by almost one-fifth.

Defense arguments

The suspect’s lawyers appealed the preventive measure, citing their client’s advanced age, poor health and prolonged pretrial detention that exceeds three years. The attorneys also emphasized that, according to the High Anti-Corruption Court, Bohuslaiev’s Ukrainian assets were confiscated and he was denied a pension payment.

Duration of detention

Despite the adjustment of the bail, the preventive measure in the form of detention remains unchanged — until December 20, 2025.

Charges against Bohuslaiev

Bohuslaiev has been in custody since 2022. He is accused of cooperation with the aggressor state and complicity, and was later additionally charged with participation in a terrorist organization and with obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, he is alleged to have intended to transfer, through a foreign legal entity, 128 engines produced by JSC "Motor Sich" to representatives of the aggressor state, worth more than USD 62 million. From that shipment, seven engines, worth more than USD 3.4 million, were allegedly delivered to an illegal armed or militarized formation in a temporarily occupied territory.

Guilty plea by former manager

In March 2025 a former top manager of Motor Sich, who had been brought to trial alongside Bohuslaiev in 2023, pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence. During the trial he admitted that the company supplied spare parts to Russia in breach of bans, and claimed that Bohuslaiev was aware of those deliveries.

Status of enterprises and assets

In November 2022, Bohuslaiev’s key asset — the Motor Sich plant — was placed under the control of the Ministry of Defense along with four other strategic Ukrainian enterprises.

  • Ukrtatnafta
  • AvtoKrAZ
  • Ukrnafta
  • Zaporizhtransformator

In November 2023 the company reached an agreement with the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) to transfer another Bohuslaiev-owned asset into management — the Vinnytsia Aircraft Repair Plant.
