Quiet rebuilding on the exit from Kyiv

On December 17 McDonald’s opened a new restaurant in the village of Hatne near Kyiv — adjacent to the city exit onto the E95 highway (near Teremky). Against the backdrop of frontline turbulence and logistical challenges, this is not just another fast-food outlet but an indicator of returning investment and service stability in the capital’s agglomeration.

What opened

Facts: the outlet, covering 462 m², has 125 indoor seats and 150 on the terrace, a parking lot for 45 vehicles (including bus spaces), and created 70 jobs. This is the tenth restaurant in the chain to start operating in 2025, and the 119th currently operating in Ukraine (out of a total of 134 — some are temporarily closed due to the war).

Service channels: five double self-service terminals, McDrive with two pickup lanes, McDelivery service and the ability to order via the mobile app. Hours: dining room and delivery — 07:00–23:00, McDrive — 05:00–23:30.

The outlet will operate in compliance with enhanced safety standards: during an air raid alert the restaurant will temporarily close, and customers and staff will be moved to shelters on the premises.

"The opening in Hatne is a step toward restoring service infrastructure around Kyiv and creating stable jobs in the region",

Why it matters

First, the location on the E95 highway is not about image but logistics: it’s important for the chain to be near transport flows to ensure steady demand and to ease pressure on city routes. Second, the 70 jobs created are a concrete contribution to the local economy at a time when every paycheck matters for recovery.

Third, the very fact of regular openings (this is already the tenth outlet of 2025) is social proof for investors: businesses are returning to formats that operate in difficult conditions, and this strengthens the signal of confidence in the market.

Brief summary

The new McDonald’s in Hatne is not a sensation but a practical step: service next to the highway, jobs, and operating hours that take safety into account. For local residents it’s convenience; for retail it’s a marker of stabilization; for partners it’s a reminder that investment in infrastructure matters here and now.
