A specialized pharmaceutical warehouse "Biokon," located in the suburbs of Kyiv, completely suspended operations following a Russian strike on September 3. This was reported on the company's website.

"A unique pharmaceutical logistics complex consisting of two warehouses with a total area of 45,000 square meters has been destroyed. This was the largest modern medicine warehouse in Ukraine, primarily stocking foreign-manufactured drugs, which provided at least three months' supply for Ukrainian patients. As of September 3, the company has suspended all operations, including medicine intake and shipment," the company stated.

LLC "HFK Biokon" plans to file a lawsuit demanding compensation for the damage caused. Forbes, citing the company, reports that preliminary estimates show product losses exceeding 15 billion hryvnias.

The timeline for restoring the complex's operations remains unknown.

Not the First Strike on Pharmaceuticals

  • On August 3, occupants struck a Teva pharmaceutical warehouse twice.
  • On June 28, a Russian missile strike damaged the Darnitsa pharmaceutical plant.

The loss of the country's largest pharmaceutical warehouse raises a practical question: how quickly will the market be able to redistribute foreign medicine supplies through alternative channels, and whether this will affect drug availability for patients in the coming months.
