Anti-corruption agencies have reached out for assistance from international partners due to a possible suspicion against the head of the SAP, high-ranking sources reported.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have informed international partners about the potential issuance of suspicion against the head of the SAP Oleksandr Klymenko following the "Midas" operation. This was disclosed by high-ranking sources in anti-corruption agencies for a report on this situation.
Sources noted that they have sought help from international partners – they have already been warned about the possible issuance of suspicion against Klymenko.
Since the partners are aware of the situation, the anti-corruption agencies hope that external attention will help maintain independence.
At the same time, in July, when NABU and SAP attempted to strip independence, society acted as a safeguard, as people took to the streets in mass protests.
"If the authorities try again to 'clean up' anti-corruption prosecutors to protect their ratings or their people, July may repeat itself. When it comes to the independence of anti-corruption agencies, society has already demonstrated: it is ready to defend them on its own. This is precisely what the sources hope for," the publication states.
