Vladimir Putin publicly commented for the first time on the U.S. peace plan regarding the war in Ukraine, which was discussed with him prior to the meeting in Alaska. This was reported by Russian media.

What Putin Said

During a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council, Federation Council Chair Valentina Matviyenko asked Putin to elaborate on the "28-point plan" for Ukrainian settlement. The dictator stated that U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan was discussed even before the meeting in Alaska.

"The U.S. asked the Russian side to show flexibility regarding the Ukrainian settlement," noted Putin.

He added that all of Russia's partners supported possible agreements ahead of the Alaska summit. At the same time, Putin acknowledged that the U.S. has still not been able to obtain Ukraine's consent to the peace plan.

"We are ready for peace negotiations, but this requires a substantive discussion of all the details of the proposed plan," concluded the dictator.

Context

Earlier, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine may face a very difficult choice: loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner.
