Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron have signed a declaration of intent regarding defense cooperation. Zelensky announced this on his Telegram channel.

The agreement opens up access for Ukraine to the French defense industrial base and provides for a strategic partnership until 2035.

What the agreement entails

According to the president, the document allows Ukraine to acquire modern military equipment from the French defense industrial and technological base. Among the key items:

  • 100 multi-role Rafale F4 fighters — deliveries will continue until 2035
  • SAMP-T air defense systems
  • Radars for air defense systems
  • Air-to-air missiles
  • Aerial bombs

Joint production by 2025

In addition to supplying equipment, Ukraine and France will begin joint defense industrial projects this year. Plans include:

  • Joint production of interceptor drones
  • Development of critical technologies and components for integration into Ukrainian unmanned systems

«Today is a special moment, truly historic for both nations – France and Ukraine,» — wrote Zelensky, adding: «New planes, new reinforcements, new steps to strengthen our army and our country. I am very grateful to France, President Emmanuel Macron, and the entire French people.»
