Qualcomm unveiled a new mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. This is the second processor in the Gen 5 series after the flagship Elite version, which was presented in September. The company announced this on its official website.
Chip specifications
The new chip runs on an Oryon core with a maximum clock of 3.8 GHz, slightly lower than the 4.6 GHz in the Elite. According to the company, performance increased by 36% compared to Snapdragon 7-series chips, and app launch and system navigation became 76% faster.
The chip uses Adreno graphics, which delivers an 11% gain in games and visual effects. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 also supports on-device artificial intelligence processing thanks to the Hexagon NPU neural processor and the Sensing Hub system, which analyzes sound and sensor data to determine user intent.
First devices
The first smartphone with this chip is the OnePlus 15R (also known as the OnePlus Ace 6T in China). Later, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will appear in models from Motorola, iQOO and Vivo.
