November 21 – Perplexity has launched the Android version of its AI-powered browser, Comet. The browser, which debuted on computers in July, is now available for smartphones with most of its original features.
What Comet Can Do on Android
The mobile Comet allows users to set Perplexity as the default search engine, interact with the AI through voice commands, and ask questions based on open tabs. The AI assistant can summarize information from multiple pages simultaneously, assist with online shopping or research. A standout feature is the built-in ad blocker.
What’s Next
In the coming weeks, developers promise to add a voice agent for searching and working with websites, the ability to create quick commands for the assistant, and a full-fledged password manager.
Currently, Comet is only available on Android. An iOS version is also in development, but Perplexity initially focused on Android due to interest from device manufacturers. The company has already collaborated with Motorola to pre-install its application on smartphones.
This is not the first AI browser on the market – previously, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Atlas with its own assistant. Recently, Perplexity opened free access to the desktop version of Comet for anyone interested.
