PlayCity Blocks Over 2,500 Illegal Casinos in Six Months

Over six months, PlayCity shut down more than 2,500 illegal online casinos, removed over 280 social media pages, fined bloggers and media outlets more than UAH 52 million, and secured over UAH 1.4 billion from licenses.

PlayCity activity

The state agency PlayCity blocked more than 2,500 illegal online casinos and removed over 280 social media pages for advertising prohibited gambling services in six months, First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said.

Bloggers and media were fined a total of more than UAH 52 million for promoting illegal content related to the gambling business.

Licenses and revenues

Over six months the budget received more than UAH 1.4 billion from the issuance of licenses for the gambling market.

Fedorov also added that due to reporting violations organizers received fines totaling UAH 13.6 million.

  • On September 17 PlayCity announced the start of issuing licenses for the gambling business.
  • On September 18 the agency designated organizations for certifying and inspecting gaming equipment.
