The Ukrainian delegation is heading to the United States for further discussions of the peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reported, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter.
The group, which includes National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia, is expected to meet in Florida with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Witkoff to lead delegation in talks with Russia
The media recalled that Witkoff is set to head the U.S. delegation in talks in Russia next week.
Last week Washington issued Kyiv an ultimatum demanding it agree by Thanksgiving to the terms of an agreement that were apparently favorable to Russia. The document was softened during a meeting of the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Geneva.
Obstacles in the talks
Although Washington has reported progress in talks with Ukraine, they still face the same obstacles as in previous rounds: what suits Ukraine will likely become a stumbling block for Russia, and vice versa, journalists noted.
