Nikita Sheremet — silver medalist in the 50m freestyle at Euro 2025

Ukrainian swimmer Nikita Sheremet won the silver medal at the 2025 European Championships in the 25-metre pool.

In the final of the 50-metre freestyle he finished with a time of 20.81 seconds, setting both the senior national record and a world junior record.

Previous achievements

This medal became the first for the Ukrainian team in this event at the European Short Course Championships in eleven years.

Earlier this week Sheremet broke the world junior record and simultaneously improved the Ukrainian senior record in the 4×50 m freestyle relay during competitions in Lublin.

In August he also won gold in the 50 m freestyle in the final of the World Junior Championships in Otopeni (Romania).

Olympic champion Penny Oleksiak was suspended from competition for two years for violating anti-doping rules.
