The final days of summer heat in Ukraine have a clear end date. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the next three days will be predominantly dry, and for this reason temperatures will manage to reach their maximum before a sharp decline.
Peak and quick reversal
Meteorologists are recording a pattern typical for August: a short temperature spike before cooling. At night, the air will warm to 11-19°, during the day to 24-29°. But already tomorrow in the south and southeast, and on August 11 in most other regions, thermometer readings will rise to 27-33°.
This is that rare case when the heat lasts just long enough to become tiresome — on August 12, a decrease in daytime temperature by 4-6° is forecast. In other words, the peak and reversal are separated by literally one day.
Over the next three days, predominantly without precipitation, only tomorrow in the southeast of the country, on Tuesday in western and northern regions during the day there will be occasional short-term rain and thunderstorms
— according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Where to expect rain
Precipitation this week is more of an exception than a rule. Short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected only tomorrow in the southeast, and on Tuesday — in the western and northern regions. In the remaining regions and other days, dry weather will predominate.
Practical conclusion
For those planning garden work, watering, or outdoor trips, the window of hot weather is essentially one day — tomorrow and the day after. Further cooling by 4-6° will change both the feeling of comfort and the need to water plants.
This is also consistent with a broader trend: earlier this month, the UN warned of intensifying heat and extreme weather events worldwide due to the climate phenomenon La Niña. Ukrainian weather this week is a small but telling example of how rapidly temperature regimes now change even within a single day.
The question for the coming days is simple: will farmers and utilities manage to take advantage of this brief window of warmth before cooling changes their plans once again?
