The U.S. Department of War launched the GenAI.mil platform, whose first integrated solution is Google Gemini, Pete Hegseth said in a tweet.
Integration of the Gemini model
The service is designed for more than 3 million military and civilian personnel and will operate in a certified IL5-level security environment.
According to Google, the platform is intended to ease routine office tasks, including:
- summarizing large documents;
- creating project checklists;
- extracting key terms from working materials.
This platform puts the worlds most powerful frontier AI models directly into the hands of every American warrior.

Limitations and access
The system works only with unclassified information, and data entered by users are not used to train Google's public models. For now, access to GenAI.mil is only possible through the Pentagon's internal network; according to the Defense Ministry's technical director, other AI models are planned to be connected later.
Background of the collaboration
Google previously collaborated with the U.S. Department of Defense on Project Maven. In 2025 the company revised its policy on the military use of AI and permitted the use of its technologies in the fields of weaponry and surveillance.
Separately, the U.S. activated a Lockheed Martin radar for missile defense, and China's Zhuque-3 rocket fell during a test flight.
