Tim Cook may leave his position as CEO of Apple in early 2026 — Financial Times reports this citing informed sources. The board of directors has intensified preparations for a leadership change.
Cook is 65 years old and has led Apple since 2011, when he succeeded Steve Jobs. Under his leadership, the company's market capitalization has increased elevenfold — from $350 billion to $4 trillion.
The most likely successor is John Ternus, Apple's chief engineer, although a final decision has not been made.
The leadership change is not related to any business problems. Apple expects record iPhone sales, and its shares are trading near historical highs following strong financial results in October.
According to FT, a new CEO is unlikely to be appointed before the financial report is published at the end of January.
This year, Apple has already experienced other changes in top management: CFO Luca Maestri left his position at the beginning of the year, and COO Jeff Williams announced his resignation in July.
