Drones attacked the city of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia on the night of November 24. Residents heard at least 10 explosions, which are attributed to the operation of air defense systems. This was reported by local Telegram channels.

Details of the Attack

The rumble was audible even with closed windows, eyewitnesses noted. The Nizhny Novgorod airport implemented a "Carpet" plan – temporarily restricting the arrival and departure of aircraft. As of 04:55, Rosaviation reported the resumption of airport operations.

The governor of the region did not comment on the situation. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have allegedly shot down or intercepted 93 drones, seven of which were over the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Facilities in Kstovo

The industrial zone of the city houses the oil refinery "Lukoil-Nizhnegorodnefteorgsintez" and the petrochemical plant "SIBUR-Kstovo." Both enterprises have previously been targeted in attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Lukoil-Nizhnegorodnefteorgsintez" is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, with a processing capacity of about 17 million tons of crude oil per year. The "SIBUR-Kstovo" plant produces ethylene, propylene, benzene, and hydrocarbon fractions.

Context

On the night of November 4, Ukrainian drones attacked the "Lukoil-Nizhnegorodnefteorgsintez" refinery in Kstovo. During the operation, over 50 drones of Ukrainian manufacture were used, including "Bober" and FP-1.
