As of the morning of September 8, some consumers remain without electricity in Kyiv, as well as in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions. The reason is hostilities and shelling of energy infrastructure, according to the Ministry of Energy.
As a result of hostilities and shelling of energy infrastructure, some consumers in Kyiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions are without power in the morning. Restoration work continues wherever the security situation permits.
Repair crews are working in locations where the security situation allows. The ministry does not specify timeframes for full power restoration — they depend on the scale of damage and the possibility of safe access to facilities.
Consumers are asked, if possible, to postpone active electricity use to daytime hours — from 11:00 to 15:00. Current information about schedules and changes in supply is recommended to be checked on the websites of regional distribution system operators.
External power supply to ZNPP restored
On September 7, repair crews of the National Energy Company Ukrenergo restored external power supply to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The station was completely disconnected from the grid as of August 20.
According to energy officials, this is already the 27th complete blackout of ZNPP since the start of the full-scale war and one of the longest — throughout this entire period the station operated solely on backup diesel generators, which is a critical mode for ensuring nuclear safety.
Each such disconnection means the station's safety is directly dependent on the operability of the generators and fuel reserves — a reserve that is not designed for prolonged operation in normal mode.
