On the night of September 5, Russia conducted targeted strikes on airports in Kyiv and Boryspil — for the first time in a long period, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported.

During the night, there were also demonstrative Russian strikes on our airports – in Kyiv and in Boryspil. Specifically targeted, for the first time in a long time. Apparently, such Russian strikes on airports are a reaction to discussions and preparations for the American side to use an aircraft to arrive in Ukraine and land at Kyiv airport or Boryspil airport.

According to the president, the Shahed attack was a response to increased American diplomatic activity.

We recorded this Russian move and next week we will accordingly adjust our operation regarding Russian airspace, which has become dangerous due to the presence of drones and missiles in the sky. Of course, there are and will be no threats to diplomacy from our side.
