On the night of August 30-31, Russian forces struck a warehouse of the Varus retail chain in the Kyiv region. The company reported this on Facebook.
There were no casualties or injuries among employees, but as a result of the attack, the warehouse facilities suffered significant damage: part of the goods were damaged or completely destroyed.
Russia is deliberately targeting Ukraine's warehouses and food logistics. A significant portion of existing storage facilities has already been destroyed, in some cases by 90%, according to data from Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotsky. He assured that this does not mean Ukrainians will be left without food.
At the same time, store customers may experience inconveniences due to reduced selection. "In the coming time, there may be delays in supplies and temporary absence of individual items on the shelves of our stores. But despite everything, all stores are currently open and operating as usual," Varus said.
The company reported that goods from other retail chains stored in nearby warehouse areas also suffered damage from the attack.

If strikes on warehouse logistics continue at the current rate, retail chains will need to diversify storage locations more quickly – in smaller batches and at greater distances from major cities.
