In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, two explosions occurred that have been classified as a terrorist act. As a result of the incident, a National Guard serviceman was killed and several people were injured.

Classification of the incident

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has classified the event as terrorism. The Security Service of Ukraine has launched a pre-trial investigation under the relevant article of the Criminal Code.

Timeline of the explosions

According to preliminary information, the first explosion occurred while two National Guard servicemen were patrolling; one of them was killed, the other was injured, and a site security guard was also wounded. The second explosion went off while police and a medical team were working at the scene, injuring two law enforcement officers.

Work at the scene

Investigative-operational teams, forensic experts, explosive ordnance disposal specialists and canine units are working at the scene. It has been preliminarily established that an improvised explosive device detonated. Local Telegram channels circulated videos purportedly capturing the moment of the blast.
