18-year-old Nikita Sheremet breaks junior and national records

Nikita Sheremet set a world junior record and simultaneously broke the Ukrainian senior record in the men's 4×50 m freestyle relay at Euro 2025 in Lublin. The team finished fourth, lowering the national time.

18-year-old Ukrainian Nikita Sheremet set two records at the European Short Course Swimming Championships stage in Lublin: the world junior record and a renewed Ukrainian senior record. This occurred in the men's 4×50 m freestyle relay.

Relay and results

The relay lineup included Nikita Sheremet, Illia Linnik, Vladyslav Bukhov and Stepan Babenko. In the heats the team set a national record — 1:24.71. In the final the team finished fourth and once again improved the Ukrainian time, posting 1:23.92.

Nikita Sheremet's records

Sheremet's leg proved decisive: he swam his 50 metres in 20.84 seconds. That time allowed him to surpass Kenzo Simons' world junior record (20.98, 2019) and to break the Ukrainian senior record held by Andriy Govorov (20.96, 2016).
