On Thursday, August 13, Dynamo will play the second leg of the third qualifying round of the Conference League against Karabakh. The match will start at 19:00 Kyiv time at Tofiq Bahramov Stadium in Baku.
At first glance, Kyiv has the advantage: they won the first match 1:0 thanks to a goal by Matviy Ponomarenko after a defensive error by their opponents. However, bookmakers rate Karabakh's chances higher - with odds of 1.86 compared to 3.8 for Dynamo's victory. This is not about the class of the teams, but about who managed to rest and who did not have that opportunity.

The Azerbaijan Championship has not yet started, so Karabakh spent the last week exclusively preparing for the important European cup match. Coach Igor Kostyuk cannot rely on three key performers - Ruslan Neshcheret, Nazar Voloshyn, and Oleksandr Pikhalionok, who remained in Kyiv due to injuries. This is a significant loss of squad depth precisely in a match where the team will likely have to play defensively against an attacking opponent.
Buyalskyi, Shaparenko, Yarmolenko, Tymchyk and other key players arrived in Baku - tactically, Kostyuk has what to work with, but there is less room for maneuver than desired in a match of this level.

The winner of this pair will face the winner of the Twente vs DAC 1904 tie in the final qualifying round. The first match between the Dutch and Hungarian teams ended in a 6:0 rout in favor of Twente, so the matter is essentially decided before the second leg, which will also take place on August 13 at 20:00.
