Muntyan farewelled at Kyiv's Dynamo Stadium

On December 3, a farewell ceremony for Volodymyr Muntyan was held at the Dynamo Stadium named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi in Kyiv. The former footballer died on December 1 at the age of 80 after a long illness.

A farewell event in honor of Volodymyr Muntyan took place in the bowl of the arena; his name will forever remain in the history of the club and European football

Veterans of Dynamo, club leadership and prominent football figures came to pay their respects to Muntyan. Among those present were club president Ihor Surkis and his brother Hryhoriy Surkiv, UAF General Secretary Ihor Hryshchenko, Dynamo CEO Dmytro Brif, Deputy CEO Maksym Radutskyi, as well as former players Leonid Buriak, Oleksandr Zavarov, Oleh Kuznetsov, Volodymyr Bezsonov and members of the current first team and youth squad.

Burial and career

The burial took place at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.

Volodymyr Muntyan was one of the most famous players of Kyiv’s Dynamo and the USSR national team, a seven-time USSR champion and a participant in the 1970 World Cup. He also served as vice-president of the Association of Football Veterans of Ukraine.
