Volodymyr Fedorovych Muntyan has died at the age of 80 after a long illness. He left a notable mark as a Dynamo Kyiv player, a USSR national team footballer and as an official of the veterans' movement.

Career at Dynamo

Muntyan was for a long time one of Dynamo Kyiv's key players. He became USSR champion seven times, won the national Cup twice, and in 1975 together with the team won the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. As a member of the USSR national team he took part in the 1970 World Cup and was a runner-up at the 1972 European Championship.

In 1969 he was recognized as the best player in the USSR. On the field Muntyan stood out for his technique and skill; off the pitch he was involved in coaching and nurturing young footballers.

Contribution to veterans

Muntyan for many years served as vice president of the Association of Football Veterans of Ukraine and worked in its governing bodies for more than two decades. He actively promoted the unification of former players and the development of veterans' initiatives.

In his career Muntyan combined sporting achievements with work as a coach and organizer, leaving a notable legacy for the club and Ukrainian football as a whole.
