18-year-old BMW driver killed after crashing into a parapet in Kyiv

On Naberezhne Highway a car veered off the road and crashed into the concrete parapet of an underpass. The driver died, three passengers were hospitalized, and police have launched a criminal investigation.

Place and circumstances of the accident

The previous night around midnight on Naberezhne Highway in Kyiv, an 18-year-old BMW driver lost control of the car and left the roadway. The vehicle collided with the concrete parapet of an underground passage.

According to law enforcement, the car was traveling from the metro bridge toward Vydubychi station when it struck the passage's barrier.

As a result of the crash, the driver died at the scene; three passengers — men aged 18, 20 and 24 — were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity

Investigation underway

Investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons operating vehicles.

The mechanism and full circumstances of the collision are being established by law enforcement agencies.
