16-year-old dies from electrocution at Vydubychi station

In Kyiv, at Vydubychi station, a teenager suffered fatal injuries after ending up on the roof of a city commuter train car. Police and a forensic medical examiner are working at the scene, investigating the circumstances of the incident.

A 16-year-old boy died in the area of Vydubychi station after coming into contact with the electrical supply on a city commuter train car. The victim sustained injuries incompatible with life.

Police investigation in Kyiv

Law enforcement has opened an inquiry into the circumstances of the incident. According to preliminary information, the minor climbed onto the roof of the car, where he was electrocuted.

Investigators from the Holosiivskyi district department and specialists from the main police directorate, as well as a forensic medical expert, are working at the scene, conducting an inspection and collecting evidence.

Since the beginning of 2025, 18 cases of teenagers' deaths have been recorded in Ukraine as a result of violations of railway safety rules related to the so‑called "zacheperstvo" (train surfing).
