$150 for Samsung OLED, 8000 mAh and IP69X: what OnePlus Turbo 6X Pro really hides

OnePlus is preparing a budget smartphone with dust and steam protection higher than most flagship models — and the price calls into question the entire "premium" segment up to $300.

The orange color of the device is the least interesting detail about the new OnePlus Turbo 6X Pro. While most announcements have focused on the color, the specifications hide a practical challenge to the entire mid-range segment.

What's Inside

The Turbo 6X Pro will feature a 6.78-inch Samsung LTPS OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The processor is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The battery is 8000mAh. This is 1000mAh less than the older Turbo 6, but more than the vast majority of competitors in this price range.

The junior model, Turbo 6X, comes equipped with a 6.72-inch FHD+ 144Hz LCD display, a Dimensity 7400 chip, a 7000mAh battery, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both devices run on Android 16 with ColorOS 16.

The Number That Breaks Market Logic

According to Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, cited by Gizmochina, the Turbo 6X Pro will fall into the segment of around 1000 yuan — less than $150. For comparison: IP69X protection, which is claimed for the Pro version, is typically found on smartphones priced at $400 and above. IP69X means resistance to powerful jets of hot water under pressure — a standard that came from industrial equipment.

The base Turbo 6X model will only have IP64 protection, so the difference between versions is significant not just on paper.

Context: Strategy, Not Coincidence

OnePlus launched the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V back in January 2025 — with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip and 9000mAh battery. The Turbo 6X lineup appears to be a deliberate filling of the lower price tier: a less powerful processor, a slightly smaller battery, but the same premium protection in the senior version. According to GSMArena, both devices have already passed TENAA certification and appeared in Google Play Console — meaning the launch is not far away. The expected launch in China is by June 18, 2025.

OnePlus has officially remained silent about a global launch beyond the Chinese market. However, given that the Turbo 6 appeared in India following its Chinese launch, the question is not whether the 6X series will go global — but at what price.

If the final price of the Turbo 6X Pro really stays below $150 with confirmed IP69X and Samsung OLED, manufacturers like Xiaomi and Realme will have to either lower prices on comparable configurations or explain exactly what the premium is for. What they choose will become clear after the Chinese sales launch.
