DJI Mic Mini 2S: 12 grams and 4 channels — flagship features at $88

DJI has moved features into its smallest microphone that previously cost significantly more: 28-hour internal recording, four-channel mode, and AI noise cancellation. The question is no longer whether to buy—but whether there's any point in paying for the Mic 3.

The letter "S" in the DJI Mic Mini 2S name stands for simply: Storage. Each transmitter received 14.5 GB of built-in memory — enough for up to 28 hours of continuous recording in 24-bit or 32-bit float format. If the signal between transmitter and receiver is lost, audio continues to be recorded locally — without operator involvement and without loss.

The device weighs around 12 grams and retains the clip form factor of its predecessors. But inside — it's a different machine. Four transmitters simultaneously on one receiver — this is a mode that was previously exclusive to the flagship DJI Mic 3. Now it's available on a device starting from 629 yuan (~$88).

"Quad mode outputs four independent audio tracks simultaneously. For interviews with three participants — this is no longer a studio-level feature".

The Gadgeteer, review from July 3, 2026

The receiver supports mono, stereo, and quad modes. In the DJI Mimo app, safety track is additionally activated — a backup track at -6 dB as protection against clipping. The new receiver is also compatible with older Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters: backward compatibility is preserved.

AI noise reduction with two levels

The noise reduction system operates in two modes: Weak Noise Reduction suppresses room background noise — fans, air conditioners; Strong Noise Reduction targets outdoor environments — traffic, crowds. Additionally: automatic gain control in two variants — Anti-Pop for sudden peaks and Loudness Equalization for voice level normalization.

What this means for the market

Before the Mic Mini 2S launch, buyers faced a choice between compactness and functionality and always lost: either a lightweight microphone without internal recording, or heavier and more expensive Mic 3. As NotebookCheck notes, Mic Mini 2S is "aimed at solo content creators, event videographers, and demanding vloggers who need an alternative to the heavier and more expensive Mic 2".

For comparison: Røde Wireless Pro offers 40 hours of internal recording in 32-bit float and timecode support — but costs significantly more and weighs more. Mic Mini 2S doesn't surpass it in battery life, but covers most practical scenarios for a third of the price.

  • Weight: ~12 g per transmitter
  • Memory: 14.5 GB, up to 28 hours of recording
  • Format: 24-bit or 32-bit floating-point
  • Channels: up to 4 transmitters per 1 receiver
  • Price: from ~$88 (629 CNY) for basic kit
  • Release date: July 2, 2026

Official US pricing is not yet available — as RedShark News reports, American FCC registrations for both models were removed from the database after publication. This is a rare step that typically signals either a delay or a review of supply terms.

If the price for the American market turns out to be comparable to the Chinese one — DJI Mic 3 effectively loses its main argument for most buyers. Will DJI leave the flagship enough of a price gap, or will it cannibalize it from below?
