DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: When a Blogger's Gadget Becomes a Survival Tool for the Market

A person shooting content for TikTok or YouTube on their phone faces one daily problem: a smartphone is universal, but its camera is always a compromise. DJI responds to this issue with a device that costs half the price of an iPhone, but does one thing – stabilized shooting – better than any flagship phone.

Osmo Pocket 4P is the first Pro model in the Pocket line, and the key here is not the marketing label "Pro," but a specific practical solution: a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom next to the main 1-inch CMOS sensor. This addresses the biggest pain point for bloggers – shooting from a distance without quality loss, when getting closer to the subject is impossible or inappropriate.

Real conflict: battery life versus size

210 minutes of battery life from a 1545 mAh cell – a figure that looks impressive until you remember the device's compact dimensions. DJI promises a camera the size of a pocket that simultaneously holds a charge longer than some mirrorless cameras. This means an engineering compromise: either energy efficiency of the new chipset, or limitations in display brightness and frame rate while maximizing battery life. The company doesn't disclose under what shooting conditions the stated figure is achieved – and this is crucial for those planning a full day of shooting without recharging.

Who the real competitor is

DJI officially targets Insta360 Luna Ultra, but the actual competitor for this novelty is the habit of people shooting stories on their phones. The Vlog Combo kit with the Mic Mini 2 microphone and mini tripod is an attempt to sell not a camera, but a ready-made blogger's workspace "out of the box." The question is whether content creators are willing to spend $619+ on a specialized gadget when social media algorithms equally "devour" video quality down to 1080p anyway.

If DJI is not mistaken about the market, the coming months will show growing demand for compact Pro cameras specifically among micro-bloggers with 10,000–50,000 subscribers – those who already monetize content but aren't ready to invest in a full-fledged mirrorless camera. If the average user stays with their phone, Osmo Pocket 4P will become a niche tool for a narrow circle of professionals, not a mass-market gadget.
