A New Level of Automation — More Than Just Convenience
Google announced an update to Gemini for Android that enables the artificial intelligence to perform multi-step tasks — for example, ordering an Uber or food delivery based on a voice command. This is more than just another "feature": the company is testing how AI can integrate into everyday services and take over routine operations for the user.
Where and on Which Devices It Works
The feature is available in beta in the Gemini app on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. At launch, the automation works only in the US and South Korea, and support is limited to select apps in the grocery delivery and rides categories. Actions can be executed only by a direct command from the owner: the process is visible in real time and can be stopped.
Safety and Control — A Key Focus
At the same time, Google is expanding security tools for Android. On the Galaxy S26 in the US, a suspicious call detection feature has appeared, and on the Pixel 10 Gemini analyzes SMS for signs of fraud in the US, Canada and the UK; support will later arrive on Samsung phones as well. This is an important counterbalance to automation, but questions of privacy and responsibility for AI decisions remain open.

Additional Features — and the Ukrainian Context
In addition to automation, Google updated Circle to Search, which now recognizes all objects on the screen, not just a single selected item. Ukrainians will also get the ability to create their own tracks in Gemini; Chrome has received a Gemini-based image generator called Nano Banana. Although these tools are not yet being rolled out to the wider market, their development opens opportunities for creators and the local IT market once the features reach our region.
Why It Matters — In Brief
First, companies are testing a model in which AI performs actions on behalf of the user — this speeds up routine processes but raises demands for security and regulation. Second, the limited geography and device list mean that Ukraine should prepare not now, but very soon: local developers and service providers must track integration standards. Third, for users and businesses this is an opportunity — from automating orders to new creative tools.
Summary
The Gemini update is a step toward more integrated smartphone AI. But convenience and innovation always come alongside questions of security, privacy and regulation. Now it's up to partners to translate these capabilities into local services and rules — and up to users to maintain control over their own data.
