What was announced
Google has officially begun the global rollout of the Search Live feature, which is becoming available in Ukraine and other regions where AI Mode is enabled. The company says the capability is already available in more than 200 countries and territories and supports all languages that work in AI Mode. The technical core of the feature is the Gemini 3.1 Flash Live model, designed to make interactions faster and more natural.
How it works
Search Live turns search into a live-dialog format: a user can ask a query by voice, receive an audio response, and continue the conversation by clarifying details or following relevant links. In addition to voice, there is camera integration: the search "sees" objects in real time and provides advice or explanations, and it also works with Google Lens to launch a Live dialogue when interacting with objects. The feature is available in the Google app on Android and iOS — just press the Live button under the search bar.
"Search Live makes search more natural: you speak or show an object to the camera and receive real-time answers built on Gemini 3.1 Flash Live"

What this means for Ukraine
For users: faster answers, more convenient access to information while traveling or shopping, and better assistance for people with visual or speech impairments. For businesses: new channels for interacting with customers — from instant online-store consultations to multimodal content for local services. For media and journalism: the tool can speed up fact-checking and source discovery, but results will require additional verification.
Risks and safeguards
The emergence of such tools is always accompanied by questions of privacy and accuracy. AI-generated results should be checked, especially when it comes to medical, legal, or security information. It's worth reviewing your account settings and Google's data collection policies, and authorities and regulators should monitor the impact on the services market and compliance with personal data protection standards.
Brief conclusion
Search Live is a logical step in the evolution of search: voice and camera make the tool more convenient and multifunctional. For Ukraine, it's a chance to adapt faster to the multimodal internet, open new business opportunities, and increase service accessibility. At the same time, deployment will require attention to privacy rules and information quality. How quickly the feature moves from a novelty to a full-fledged tool for users and businesses will depend on local language support, integration with services, and how responsibly content providers and regulators approach the rollout.
