At the SAHA 2026 exhibition in Istanbul, Ukraine presented the jet-powered interceptor drone "Chaklun Jet" from KB Technari, a Dnipro-based company that has been developing unmanned aircraft since 2022. According to Army Recognition, the system is already being used in combat against Russian UAVs.
What it can do
"Chaklun Jet" is equipped with a turbofan engine: maximum speed is 320 km/h, cruise speed is 220 km/h. The drone launches from a catapult, operates at altitudes up to 6,000 meters, and has a range of up to 30 km when linked with RADA-class radars. The system is reusable: after interception, the drone returns to base.
Primary targets are reconnaissance UAVs like Zala and Supercam, as well as loitering munitions of the Shahed-136/"Geran" class. Speed of 320 km/h is sufficient against them: Shahed-136 flies at approximately 185 km/h.
But there's one problem
Russia is already deploying a jet version — Shahed-238 with a turbofan engine. As Ukrainian analysts from nfront.org.ua noted, jet "Shaheds" move ahead of missile waves, overloading radars. According to DroneXL, none of the five main Ukrainian interceptors — neither STING, nor STRILA, nor Octopus — can catch up with Shahed-238 at current speeds.
"Chaklun Jet" with its 320 km/h falls into the same category: it is effective against subsonic targets, but the jet "Shaked" puts it outside the interception zone.
Context: Market, not just the front
The presentation at SAHA 2026 is not a random venue. It is Turkey's largest defense exhibition, where deals are traditionally made with Middle Eastern and Persian Gulf countries. According to Kyiv Independent, Saudi Arabia had already been holding negotiations for purchasing Ukrainian interceptor drones in spring 2026. Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, meanwhile, officially certified several systems — including the JEDI Shahed Hunter, which reaches 350 km/h and protects a zone with a 40 km radius.

Ukraine has also deployed 201 military experts in Persian Gulf countries to support partners in countering drones — another 34 specialists are ready for deployment. This means that "Chaklun Jet" at SAHA 2026 is both a demonstration of combat experience and a commercial proposal.
What's next
The "Chaklun" line continues to expand: in 2025, KB Technari presented Chaklun-B 2.0 for reconnaissance and ISR missions with a 3.5-meter wingspan, and separately announced a long-range strike UAV with an 11 hp engine. So "Chaklun Jet" is one element of the platform, not a separate product.
But a key question remains open: if Russia scales production of Shahed-238 to tens of thousands per year — and that's exactly what experts are tracking as of early 2026 — will Ukraine manage to deploy an interceptor capable of catching it before the jet "Shaked" becomes the primary strike weapon in combined attacks?
