American company Anduril Industries has encountered technical difficulties during the combat deployment of its drones in Ukraine. In 2024 the SBU suspended the operation of Altius loitering drones due to their vulnerability to Russian electronic warfare measures.

The drones often lost communications and were unable to strike targets. In light of these problems the SBU ultimately abandoned their use in 2024. The company says its UAVs carried out strikes on a significant number of Russian targets. However, outside Ukraine Anduril equipment has also been involved in various incidents during testing.

In May 2025, during U.S. Navy exercises off California, some drone boats running Lattice software lost control and entered fail-safe mode.

In August, during ground tests of the Fury unmanned fighter a mechanical failure damaged the engine. That same month, in Oregon, a drone under test crashed and caused a fire.

Recently Anduril and Meta unveiled new AI-powered helmets for the U.S. Army.
