Xiaomi has announced the next product in its line of affordable audio devices — Redmi Buds 8. The true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds will be officially presented in China on April 21, 2026 as part of a broader brand event.
Detailed technical specifications for the model have not yet been disclosed, but the announcement itself confirms that Xiaomi continues to use Redmi as its primary tool for capturing the mass market segment of wireless audio. Previous generations of Buds gained popularity primarily due to their price — not their specifications.
The launch in China traditionally precedes availability in international markets, including Ukraine and Europe, by several months. This means that actual availability of the device for Ukrainian buyers will depend on official distributors and grey imports — both channels are active in Ukraine.
The market for affordable TWS earbuds under $50 is currently oversaturated: it sees competition from JBL, Samsung (Galaxy Buds FE line), Sony, and dozens of Chinese brands. Redmi maintains its position in this competition primarily through ecosystem integration with Xiaomi smartphones.
The key question that will determine the success of Buds 8: will Xiaomi offer something concrete — a new chip, active noise cancellation, or significantly extended battery life — or will it once again rely exclusively on price?
