Russian forces struck Kyiv's railway depot and other railway infrastructure facilities with ballistic missiles during the night. The attack killed 7 people, including 6 Ukrzaliznytsia employees, according to the company's board chairman Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.
Another Ukrzaliznytsia employee was wounded and is receiving treatment in hospital.

The attack completely destroyed one of the depot's workshops. Several fires broke out at the strike sites and were extinguished by rescue workers.
Implications for train traffic
Due to the damage, railway workers temporarily suspended traffic on two sections, but later resumed service. Ukrzaliznytsia has not provided details on how the attack affected the schedule for long-distance and commuter trains in the coming days.
The company stated that it is contacting the families of deceased employees and providing them with support.

Depots and repair workshops are part of the logistics supply chain rather than combat targets in the classical sense. A ballistic strike on such a facility indicates an attempt to disable the technical base for servicing rolling stock rather than the track itself.
