Drones struck the corvette "Boyky" in Kronstadt's dry dock: satellite records fire and containment efforts

Satellite imagery from Vantor has confirmed damage to the missile carrier "Boyky" at the dock of the Kronshtadt Naval Plant. Defense Express believes that recovery could take years — or prove economically unfeasible.

On the morning of June 3, operators of the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 06:35 successively struck twice with FP-1 type drones against the corvette "Boiky", which was in the dry dock named after Veleshchinsky at the Kronstadt Naval Plant. Satellite images from Vantor company, published by the "Schemes" project, record the consequences: smoke over the hull and firefighters with several fire hoses on board.

What kind of ship

"Boiky" is the third corvette of the Baltic Fleet, project 20380. Launched in 2011, commissioned in 2013. Carrier of Kh-35 anti-ship missiles, A-190 artillery installation and anti-submarine warfare means. In 2025, the corvette repeatedly escorted vessels of the Russian shadow tanker fleet in the English Channel. In February 2026, it was placed for scheduled maintenance in Kronstadt.

"Has a spectacular history of wandering and adventures along NATO borders, escorted the shadow oil fleet of the vermin. Remembered for the triumphant ramming of the research vessel 'Admiral Vladimirsky'."

Commander of the Unmanned Systems Center Robert "Madyar" Brovdi

Why a dry dock is a double blow

According to Defense Express assessment, striking a ship in a dry dock has double consequences. First, in such a position the ship stands with open bulkheads — its fire resistance drops sharply. Second, the fire could have destroyed not only the superstructure but also a significant part of the internal communications. Analysts consider the central part of the hull as the most vulnerable zone — that is where the Kh-35 launch systems are located.

A separate dimension is the blockage of the plant itself. The Kronstadt Naval Plant is one of the key repair bases of the Baltic Fleet. A damaged ship in the dock physically limits the ability to service other vessels.

Confirmation and context of the strike

The strike on "Boiky" was independently confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the SBU, and the commander of the Unmanned Systems Center Madyar, who published video from the drone combat interface. The strike on Kronstadt is part of a larger night operation: among the targets were also the "St. Petersburg" oil terminal, a components plant for high-precision weapons in Tambov region, and an airfield in Crimea.

  • Time of strike: 06:35, June 3
  • Executor: 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, FP-1 drones
  • Confirmation: General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, SBU, Unmanned Systems Center commander Brovdi, Vantor satellite images
  • Ship status at time of strike: scheduled maintenance in dry dock

Defense Express notes: if the damage proves to be critical, restoring "Boiky" could take years or become economically unfeasible — especially considering that the Kronstadt Naval Plant is already overwhelmed with fleet maintenance under sanctions on shipbuilding components.

How serious the damage is will become clear when new satellite images appear showing whether the ship remains in the same dock — or whether Russia is already attempting to hide or evacuate it.
