What happened
Due to a power outage on the left bank of Kyiv, electric transport routes have been temporarily altered. Kyivpastrans reported that the decision took effect immediately after failures began on the power lines.
“Electric transport movement on the left bank of Kyiv has been temporarily changed due to the power outage. Temporary bus routes have been organized on certain sections to provide transport. Please plan your trips and follow the temporary traffic schemes.”

- Tram reserve routes: No. 28-T (Myloslavska Street — Darnytska Square), No. 4-T (Myloslavska Street — Raiduzhna station), No. 29-T (Boryspilska metro station — Darnytska Square).

Context and consequences
On December 27 the city sustained a massive strike, resulting in dozens of injuries, fires in residential buildings and service stations (STO); one person was killed. According to city authorities, about 500,000 households were without power, and approximately 40% of buildings were without heat. Hits on a depot were also recorded: a bus and about 20 tram cars were damaged.
As a result, routes serving the Troyeshchyna residential area have been temporarily suspended. Kyivpastrans and municipal services are coordinating restoration efforts, but for now passengers must use reserve bus lines or change their travel routes.
Practical advice for passengers
Put emotions aside — follow the plan: check official updates from Kyivpastrans and the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA), allow extra travel time, and, if possible, choose alternative means of transport. Congestion and overcrowding of temporary buses are possible on the busiest sections.
What’s next
This situation highlights how critical infrastructure affects daily urban life. Today the task falls to energy and transport workers: the faster power supply and depot resources are restored, the sooner transport will return to normal. For Kyiv residents this is a short-term planning challenge; for the city it is a test of the speed of recovery and interagency coordination.
