In the city of Kotovsk in Tambov Oblast, a Wildberries logistics center has been attacked. This was reported by the company's press service and Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov.
"As a result of a drone attack on Tambov Oblast, a logistics facility of the company in this region was damaged, a fire broke out <…> No new goods shipments were being received at the said facility," Wildberries reported.
Pervyshov stated that the fire area at the Wildberries warehouse following a massive drone attack exceeds 100,000 square meters.
Regular attacks by Ukrainian drones on Wildberries warehouses – Russia's largest online marketplace, often called the Russian answer to Amazon – represent another stage of a campaign that is making it increasingly difficult for ordinary Russians to ignore the economic losses of the war.
The governor of Russia's Tambov Oblast claims that one Wildberries employee was injured, suffering a concussion from the blast wave, and that a house in one of the residential communities caught fire after a Ukrainian drone fell.
Pervyshov emphasized that this is not the first Ukrainian strike on Wildberries in Kotovsk: on the night of July 18, seven warehouse employees were killed as a result of an attack, with 25 more injured.
Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry reported that 426 drones were allegedly destroyed overnight.
What else is in focus
- Recently, Ukraine has regularly struck Russian Wildberries warehouses, and since August 22 has also "opened an account" with attacks on Ozon.
- Strikes continue on Russian oil facilities – on the night of August 25, Ukrainian drones attacked the Afipsk oil refinery and the Afipsk station in Krasnodar Krai.
If repeated strikes on the same logistics hubs continue at such a regular pace, companies like Wildberries will have to either relocate warehouses further from the border or factor in the risk of attacks into delivery costs – both of which are already affecting the speed and cost of logistics within Russia.
