The High Anti‑Corruption Court found a member of parliament of the 8th convocation guilty of illegally receiving about UAH 914,000 for renting a hotel room in Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti‑Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
The court sentenced the former MP to three years and six months in prison, and also banned him from holding positions related to organizational and managerial as well as administrative and economic functions for three years. In addition, he was fined UAH 8,500.
The verdict has not yet come into force and may be appealed within the next 30 days.
Although the MP’s name was not disclosed, in June 2024 a suspicion of illegally receiving compensation was served to former MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Arkadiy Kornatskyi. According to the investigation, in the period from 2014 to 2019 he received UAH 914,000 in compensation from the budget of the Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada for a hotel room, although he owned housing in Kyiv.
- In 2019 the NACP found false data in Kornatskyi’s 2016 declaration: he did not declare corporate rights and several plots of land that belong to him, nor did he reflect information about the right to use a residential house that is his registered place of residence, and he did not indicate the expenses on the basis of which he obtained ownership of the land plots.
- The total amount of false information in the declaration exceeded UAH 3.2 million.
