Kyiv, November 21 – The appointment of a new supervisory board for Energoatom, which Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko called a priority for the week on Monday, will be delayed until the end of the year. This was announced by Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev during a briefing on Thursday.
The procedure will take months
"The legislation clearly defines the procedure: announcing requirements, a minimum of ten working days for accepting applications, the recruiter forming a shortlist, interviews with candidates in the nomination committee with the participation of international partners as observers, and the approval of the final composition. Even in an expedited mode, this will last until the end of the year," Sobolev explained.
The minister noted that even such a timeline is record short – typically, the formation of supervisory boards takes from three to six months or more.
New leadership
On November 17, Sobolev announced that the updated supervisory board would elect a new chairman of the board of Energoatom. An acting official will be appointed for the transition period, whose candidacy will be agreed upon with the G7 countries.
The previous composition of the supervisory board was dissolved following a corruption scandal related to the company's procurement.
