The U.S. Department of War signed an agreement with Sikorsky worth $433.2 million, providing for the delivery of nine UH-60M multi-mission helicopters and 15 HH-60M medical evacuation aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled by the end of 2027.

Role of the UH-60M

The UH-60M serves as the army’s primary tactical helicopter: it is used for troop insertions, cargo transport, battle coordination and supporting units on the front line.

Role of the HH-60M

The HH-60M is adapted for medical evacuation — equipped with oxygen delivery systems, an internal hoist and stretchers, enabling the rescue of wounded at night and in difficult conditions.

This contract falls in the fifth year of performance of the five-year agreement signed in 2022. The initial deal provides for delivery of 120 helicopters with an option to expand to 255 aircraft; the maximum estimated value of the agreement reaches $4.4 billion. To date the army has approximately 1,185 UH-60Ms and plans to increase the fleet to 1,375 units. The model will remain in service at least until 2030.

Recently Sikorsky also unveiled the U-Hawk — an unmanned helicopter. Separately, the United States activated a Lockheed Martin radar intended for missile defense.
