On the night of July 2, 2026, Kyiv suffered a massive combined attack: at least 24 ballistic and hypersonic missiles, Zircons, cruise missiles and drones struck the city in waves over 20 minutes. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, 13 people were killed, about 90 were wounded, and destruction was recorded in all districts.
Among the affected facilities was a warehouse complex that stored products from the OKWINE retail network and the Wine Hunters distributor.
«Tonight, as a result of a direct hit by a Russian missile, the central warehouse of the OKWINE network and Wine Hunters distributor was destroyed. This is one of the hardest days for our team».
OKWINE Press Office
According to the company, wine stocks, spirits and other products were completely destroyed. The amount of damage has not been calculated at the time of publication, as rescue workers were still at the scene. OKWINE is a retail network with over 191 wine stores in 45 settlements across Ukraine.
Strike on logistics cluster
The OKWINE and Wine Hunters warehouse was only part of the logistics cluster destroyed in that same strike. According to preliminary data, the service center ERC — one of the country's largest IT distributors — and the logistics center of Nova Poshta were also damaged nearby. A separate hit completely destroyed the warehouse and office of the online retailer MOYO.
The same shelling destroyed about 800,000 books from the BookChef publishing house — the company estimates losses at over 100 million hryvnias. Porsche Center Kyiv Airport, CityHotel Residence and the Agromat store were also damaged.
Tactical context
The Air Force recorded 570 air attack weapons during the night — 74 missiles and 496 drones of various types. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed it attacked «military targets», including a Flamingo missile manufacturing plant — but residential areas, logistics and civilian infrastructure in all districts of the city came under fire. This fits the documented attrition tactic identified by ISW and Ukrainian analysts: systematic strikes on logistics hubs and civilian enterprises with no military significance.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Nova Poshta has recorded damage or destruction to over 400 branches and terminals. The July 2 strike was the next in this series — but for the first time in several months, a single attack simultaneously hit several large private warehouse complexes in the capital.
If the damage across all affected businesses in the same strike exceeds one billion hryvnias, the question will arise whether it will become the basis for a collective lawsuit against Russia through the Council of Europe's Damages Registry mechanism, to which Ukraine has already submitted over two million claims.
