What happened

Lithuania informed the Council of Europe of its intention to join the Special Tribunal on the Crime of Aggression by Russia against Ukraine. This announcement made the country the first after Ukraine to officially express such a decision.

Reaction from the Foreign Ministry

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to other states, calling on them to support holding those responsible for the aggression accountable.

The tribunal’s launch will take place in three phases. Preparatory actions are currently underway to conclude an enlarged partial agreement on the tribunal’s steering committee.
