Ukraine has concluded a cooperation agreement with the Latvian company Tilde, the Latvian National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the Government Office for Coordination of European Integration, the Ministry of Digital Transformation reports.

To integrate into the EU, Ukraine needs to implement around 30,000 acts of European law. This requires significant effort and time, so the country is developing an artificial intelligence–based tool capable of translating and analysing EU legislation more quickly. The foundation of this project is Tilde’s automated translation technologies, which are already used in the public sector.

The cooperation covers not only the translation of legislative acts but also other aspects. Ukrainian and Latvian experts will work together on training AI language models, in particular on adapting systems for the Ukrainian language.

In addition, Ukraine will explore the capabilities of European supercomputers, including the EuroHPC infrastructure for working with big data. Plans include developing new AI-based solutions for public services, education and business, as well as support for participation in European funding programmes and projects.

Recently the Ukrainian project Diia.AI won an EU competition among digital public services and was officially entered into the Book of Records as the first AI assistant in the field of public services.
