Explosions near the "Dagdizel" plant in Kaspiysk
On the morning of December 1, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Kaspiysk, in the Republic of Dagestan, near the Dagdizel shipbuilding plant. Local authorities reported an alleged drone attack.
Statement from the region's head on drone attack
Head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov reported that all aerial targets over Kaspiysk were allegedly shot down. According to him, emergency services and security forces are working at the scene.
Melikov also reminded of the ban on publishing information concerning attacks or objects of critical infrastructure in the region. Despite this, videos have appeared online that are claimed to have been filmed near the sites of the explosions.
The footage shows security forces running through the streets and a helicopter circling over the city.

Possible targets of the attack
Located near the site of the explosions is the Dagdizel plant, which is engaged in shipbuilding and the production of military components. Kaspiysk also hosts a military base where units of the Russian coastal troops and marines are stationed.
The city is located approximately 500 km from the border with Ukraine.
