Italian fashion house Versace announced the departure of creative director Dario Vitale just eight months after his appointment. The announcement appeared on Thursday, two days after Prada Group completed the purchase of the brand for €1.375 billion in cash.

Reason and timing of the departure

Vitale, who became the third creative director in the house’s history after Gianni and Donatella Versace, will leave the company on December 12. He was appointed in April, and his first collection under his direction was shown in September.

Successor and leadership

The name of the successor has not yet been announced; until a permanent creative director is appointed, chief executive Emanuele Ginzburg has been entrusted with leading the creative team. The takeover of Versace by Prada was completed after lengthy negotiations between the parties.
